Is Gig Harbor Sales free to use?
Browsing is free. Listing is free. We charge an 8% commission only when an item sells.
Who is Gig Harbor Sales for?
Anyone living in Gig Harbor, Fox Island, Key Peninsula, Purdy, or surrounding Pierce County communities. Buyers and sellers must be local.
How is this different from Facebook Marketplace?
We verify every seller's phone, manually moderate new sellers' first listings, and process payments through Stripe with 48-hour buyer protection. Facebook Marketplace doesn't do any of those things.
Why does payment go through Gig Harbor Sales?
Two reasons: (1) Stripe protects both buyer and seller from scams, and (2) the 48-hour buyer protection window only works if we hold the funds. We pay sellers within 2 business days of pickup confirmation.
How do I get paid as a seller?
Set your payout method in your seller profile: Zelle, Venmo, or paper check. After a buyer confirms pickup, you're paid within 2 business days. You receive 92% of the sale price.
Is there a minimum or maximum item price?
No minimum. Items priced over $1,000 require Stripe Identity verification (a 30-second seller check) for buyer safety.
What if I have a problem with a transaction?
Hit the Report button on the listing or message us at /contact. We review reports within hours — not days. We're a real local business with real customer support.
Can I list a service (handyman, lawn care)?
Not yet. Goods only for now. We'll launch a Local Services category in 2026.
Can I list a garage sale?
Coming soon — we'll have a dedicated Garage Sales section with a map view.
Why do I need to verify my phone?
To prevent spam, scams, and fake accounts. It takes 30 seconds and we never share your number. Buyers and sellers communicate through email-masked in-app messaging.
